Well, even though it's a busy time of year for Brandy, he's been home on Saturdays (to take care of his wife!). We haven't had our boat out yet as it needed some work and we didn't get it scheduled right away. Plus, we've been a mite bit distracted. It was time for it to be picked up and we thought we'd do some boating as well.
Well, plans change, and then change again. You'd think I'd be used to that by now! ha! First I had a brain dead moment and forgot Shianne had a ball tournament. Actually, I remembered. But 2 and 2 didn't come together to make 4. They just stayed 2 and 2. Does that make sense? Maybe you need to have my brain to get it.
She was fine with us not being there, so I asked her friend's mom if she could go with them (thanks, Angie!). In fact she was much more excited to spend time with Alexis than have us there. (smile)
Well, after getting that all figured out, Brandy was asked to work Saturday, since well...they're busy and he hasn't been working Saturdays. Brandy's Mom said she could spend part of the day with me. She ended up being here quite a bit actually. But there went the boating plans. And yet, I still couldn't go to the tournament all day long with 7 kids and a gimpy mom. So...no tournament, no boating. Oh, well, another day at home.
Turns out, Brandy was able to get off around 2:00 pm. So we decided to head out the door and get the boat anyway. Not to go boating, per se, but at least meet our friends, Mark and Juliann and their kids, for supper. They were staying at a cabin on the lake.
What fun! It was so good to see them again. They live about 3 hours away, so we don't see them nearly as often as we'd like. The lake is about 2 hours away for both of us, so we hope to do it again. Juliann is one of those friends...well...after you're done talking with her you feel like you can conquer the world. Love ya, girl!
And we did have a quick minute to take the kids for their first boat ride ever. A first for 3 out of the seven anyway! Since Mark's boat was already in the water, they went for a quick buzz around the lake. I stayed in the house with Juliann and watched from the window and caught up a little. But Brandy took lots of pictures!
Oh, but before we get to more boat pics, let's take a few pics of the first time Svanna, Gabe and Summer had corn on the cob. You can't truly be an Midwestern child without having corn on the cob!
Dig in, Buddy!

Had to get a picture of Tye, too--trying to eat corn on the cob without his 2 front teeth!

Too cute!
Now THIS is FUN!

P.S. Unfortunately Shianne's team did not do well at the tournament. BUT, she went on and on about how much fun she had with her friend. And--we missed you Scott and Jen! Hope to visit again and see you soon.
