Here are just a few highlights of the birthday boy's week!!
On his actually birthday, I made him a Batman cake. We stayed home that night and celebrated just the 9 of us. Take note of the black "bat" in the center...
Yes, it's like from some horror flick...
Ewww......
Earlier Gabe and I had gone to the grocery store to get ingredients for his cake and snacks for his class. He doesn't have Transitional Kindergarten on Tuesdays, so he was taking his treats the next day. While we were there, I asked him if he wanted Mom to make a Batman cake for his birthday celebration (like he was already getting for his party) or turtle cakes. He chose to have another batman cake. But then later at home, after I'd already baked the cake, he was sure he'd chosen to have a turtle cake. So we compromised and decided to make turtle cupcake-cakes for school the next day for his birthday treats. It worked out beautifully cuz he has a real turtle in his classroom.
There was a great toutorial on Better Crocker's website if you'd like to make them, too!Wednesday night we went to Chuck E. Cheese. Yes, a parents favorite hang-out. We had been saying we'd go there since before Christmas when Jaden was potty-trained, and it was finally time. Since it was so close to Gabe's birthday, and it was his first birthday ever (we only do friend's parties after the kids are 7) we took a friend along, too, to help celebrate.

Then yesterday we went to Pizza Hut for lunch (his choice) with family. Then back to our house for another batman cake--not made by me--and presents!
Thanks for the present, Braedon!
Had to get a picture of the "kids." Shout out to Trent and Martha (on the left) who recently got engaged! Congratulations!!
Happy Birthday, Gabriel!!! We can't wait to celebrate many many more, while yet holding dear to the days we've already had with you. We love you!!
