Shianne was gone to camp this past week. Her Momma missed her very much! But she {of course} had an amazing time. She went to Bible Horse Camp for the second year in a row, and thoroughly loved it.
This year was a tad bit different than other years she's gone to camp. She didn't have a friend to go with. She's always made friends easily. She was the 4 year old who would walk up to any other child in the park with a "what's your name?" But still, it was different. Usually, if I bring her to camp, the girls are giggling and laughing and ready to have a grand time. This year she was quieter--assuring me that she would have a great time--but quieter.
So I prayed hard for her all week.
When I went to the closing program, I knew from simply seeing her from across the room that she did indeed have a wonderful time. I also noticed how grown up she looked. Funny how a week apart can do that {sniff sniff}.
In going to her cabin I took a picture of the "3 Musketeers" as they called themselves.
An old friend from camp last year, and a new friend. Fabulous!
It's a good thing I prayed for my darling daughter, though. Cuz even with all the precautions they take, she fell of a horse. Just in time to look up and see the horse jumping over her! Thankfully, she didn't get injured. She scuffed up her chin and hurt the same knee that she hurt in softball {I hope that's not a recurring problem for her}.
Some parents would freak out. Not I. Since she didn't get hurt, I'm actually kinda glad it happened. Lots of life lessons. Healthy respect for horses. Oh, and she got right back on that horse. Way to go, Shi!!
Tired Shianne came home on Friday, and since the boys were off on another adventure, the girls went shopping for some much needed things. {sigh} Ya'll know I don't like to shop, right? But we found some good stuff and enjoyed supper together. Chips and salsa, yum.
I told a friend from church that I didn't like to shop cuz I get overstimulated and I have a crowd phobia. She totally laughed at me!! She said, and you have seven kids?!? Ok, it is kinda funny, huh. *smile*
Saturday, Shianne got to show lambs at the local county fair. No, we don't have lambs at our house. Dogs, kids, and puppies...but no livestock. Friends from church asked if she'd like to help show their lambs and I think she about jumped out of her skin with excitement. She's been asking and asking to join 4-H, and I've been hesitating (she is the oldest, you know, and there are 6 more to follow). So this was her chance.
The girl looked like a natural in the ring with only a few practices (of course, our friends worked with the lambs for months beforehand). She was totally in her element.
Thanks so much to the Luesinks and the Shephards for asking her to join them with their lambs!!! She would LOVE to do it next year as well.
The other kids enjoyed watching and seeing the lambs. This was the first day of the fair, so there wasn't a lot else to see {oh, but Grandma got them ice cream, what more could they ask for?}.
This "black sheep" kicked Svanna in the head when she was on her haunches. OUCH! She took it quite well, tho.
Welcome home, Shi! We missed you, we love you, and we're proud of you!

Carey, What camp did Shi go to. My niece just went to a horse camp and I think it was down my Grundy Center. But this one sounds really good. A horse camp and bible camp in one. Can you let me know what the camp was called and maybe I can look into sending my niece there instead. Thanks. If you want to email it that would be great. Thanks.
I hope everything is going well for you and your family. We need to get together again sometime.
Angela
